ACDelco Professional 18M1878 Brake Master Cylinder Assembly: Efficient Solution for Superior Braking Performance Review

There appears to be absolutely no anti-corrosion treatment on the housing of this master cylinder. A few days after installation, it rusts. Affects appearance but not function.

Too early to give an honest review as I installed it on a road pole under construction. Everything is fine with me and I have a really good brake pedal. Once I finish a project, I know all about its performance!

I removed the old master brake cylinder because of a small leak. Big mistake! This thing is all over my painted engine compartment. The lid seal is scrap, you can put a deposit on the lid with two fingers. Do yourself a favor and put a condom on him.

Not an exact replacement for my 70 Z28 as it has no vent holes but fits perfectly. Brand new so don't worry about cylinder rust or incomplete honing. The old MC had quite a bit of ordinary crap, these things need to be changed over time even if they don't lick. Everything is ready and working perfectly.

This is the same part as other non-original after sale master cylinders. This is not a genuine Delco part that was originally manufactured. a version with a leaking cap and an inferior steel cap that can be bought elsewhere under several generic brand names for 25-30% less. Apparently the genuine Delco OEM part is no longer available :(

I believe the truck's original master cylinder was stuck and leaking at the back of the block. I bought this, installed it in a truck, bled the block and then the individual brakes. I don't remember the brakes on this truck ever working so well, except maybe when my dad bought it brand new in 1973, but I've only had the chance to drive it for the last 20 years.

Even though I didn't fit the master cylinder due to the weather I don't expect any problems. The new master cylinder arrived promptly and was in a sealed plastic bag to prevent corrosion. I plan to cover it with a thin layer of paint to prevent corrosion. This is a new master, not a remodel. The price was great and free shipping at the time of ordering. Cheaper than auto parts stores and it was a new block while theirs was being remodeled. Highly recommended.
