Used like new!

Received the part, knew it was used but didn't think it was junk. Disassembled the car to install, install, you know what? That does not work. Sent back and ordered again.

Pros
  • GOLS Certificate
Cons
  • Expensive

ATTN DIY - good for spare parts

Problem with the back door but you don't know why? Your GM tailgate latch #13581405 is 10 times more likely your problem, they fail much more often than this geared motor. is a genuine ACDelco part at a much lower price than your local GM dealer.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Frequency

Used didn't work. Buy new.

Be careful with this when you buy new. I took a used one, I thought everything would be fine as it is from a good company. I received it, did all the work of replacing it without testing it first as I didn't see it fail. As soon as I closed everything, I found that it didn't work and the motor died.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Fits

Exact replacement OE

This solved the problem of the Escalade tailgate opening partially and slamming loudly. Identical to the original part for approximately $200 less than dealer price. For reference, the installation time should be less than 30 minutes. After removing the rear seats on the driver's side, you only need to unscrew 1 screw, remove the interior panels and 3 mounting screws and replace the controls. Box onto the new part, then snap the panels into place. You may need to turn the vehicle on and off to…

Pros
  • Nice thing
Cons
  • Some trouble

Big savings by avoiding the dealer

This worked well on my 2007 2500 Suburban which was making a grinding noise when opening the tailgate. The whole job took 1 hour as I took my time to avoid breaking the panel clips to get to the failed unit. It's pretty easy. The problem and disadvantage is that although all the main gears are metal, there are plastic gears in the actuator solenoid that drive the metal gears. An improper push or pull on the tailgate while it's moving can (and does) rip off the plastic gears. I took care of that

Pros
  • Alright!
Cons
  • Older Model

Approximately 30 minutes have passed and it works like new again

With these the clutch goes out and as a result they click. Plastic gears wear out over time. You can buy the clutch separately on ebay, but I decided to replace the whole assembly. 30 minutes passed and it works like new again. Better than a dealer asking $1,000. They make a number of different clutches, so I highly recommend replacing just the entire assembly. This is one of those parts that you don't want to buy used. I bought a certified used 1st. And he had the same problem. The white gear…
