ACDelco 38158 Professional Automatic Tensioner Review

Mine was made in Canada not China. I originally bought a Gates that had some sort of open stretch limiter on the back that just collected dust and grit over time. Also, the pulley felt loose and less "smooth". I couldn't find where the gate was made, but I'll hazard a guess. not Canada.

Just a warning, this unit will not fit Escalade due to the size of the water pump. The factory Escalade has 2 bolts and this one has 3. If you have a cutting wheel like mine, just cut off the entire side opposite the pulley to fit. In general, the tensioner is excellent, only there is an error in the product description.

If the tension spring breaks it can cause serious damage to your car's engine as the water pump will stop working and the alternator will damage the battery no longer charges. If your car or truck has aluminum heads and blocks, there will be serious problems. Your valves will be bent or your heads will need to be replaced as the head is easily deformed.

*****Genuine AC Delco part*****2003 GMC Sierra - 5.3L v8 Made in Canada. Mark confirmed. Arrived quickly and left quickly as usual. Spring is good and firm. The old one felt stuck together and had trouble moving. As for OEM. This is exactly what was taken from the truck. Period. DO NOT BUY OTHER COUNTERFEIT. Always use Delco for GM vehicles whenever possible.

Product was defective upon delivery. There were no broken parts in the box, so it was shipped already damaged. Luckily, the breakpoint didn't affect the function, so we can use it. Also, it was a day late and we didn't have a car by the time the goods arrived, so it was a disappointing experience. We even ordered another one in case it gets lost. Not very happy with the whole experience.

Needed to replace the Lower AC Belt Tensioner (38259) on our 2003 speedo after 129,000. I figured that while this one was going, maybe not long before this one was going too. Glad I exchanged it. Comparing the tension between new and old was the difference between day and night. The ACDelco 38158 professional automatic belt tensioner and pulley assembly fit perfectly and were easy to swap out. This is a high quality ACDelco part, not a counterfeit.

This was a simple replacement and perfect for the stock tensioner on the 06 Silverado, 5.3 FlexFuel with 145A alternator. Part of AC Delco made in Canada (at least that one was). All it took was a 15 socket, a 3/8 ratchet and a short extension. Save the bolts before removing the original tensioner. A NOTICE. Remember which screw comes from which position, they are not all the same length (at least on my car). Also, do not over-tighten when re-tightening.

I ordered this part thinking it would fit my car because it works. I'm an elderly person and do the work myself so it took me a long time to remove the old part. Comparing it I saw it was the wrong part, although you couldn't tell until it was removed. Back on the Revain website, I noticed a note at the top saying it didn't fit my car, although my initial search revealed it did. The website said my return had already expired. My question is why did it show up during my search if it didn't match
