Went like clockwork!

I had a couple of tent poles with broken cords. I secured them with this cord. I followed the video on YouTube and it was very easy. I made laces for all my shoes from the leftover cord. I bought a small plastic clip for the ends and now I have shoes without straps!

Pros
  • Finally bought
Cons
  • Useless features

stretches nearly 3 times

A great replacement for old Coleman fiberglass poles. The trick to getting the old cable out is to stretch it (hard) and then cut it under tension. The cord snaps onto one end of the pole section and knocks out the end of the knot. I stretched about a third of the total length to ensure good tension without overstretching the cord.

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • Hard to remember but it was

Stretches much better than expected

Works great on the tent poles I had with the cord that broke unexpectedly quickly. The composition of this cord looks very good and has a wide range of elasticity. I ended up getting a lot more than I expected as I had to stretch it a lot more than I thought to get to the area where I felt the poles grip best and even then there was plenty of room to work.

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • Safety

You can fix your own tent poles!

I had a mess with a REI tent pole that broke after 3 years. It was in the shape of a spider so I was afraid to try to fix it (definitely didn't think I could). I went to REI and they seemed thrilled that they fixed their own pole. Then I watched a few YouTubes - no problem. I ordered this cable, everything is fine. I ended up fixing up to 2 sets of tent poles due to their number. It was wonderful. Will never hesitate again!

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Crumpled

Poles are like new again

My tent is back from the dead. The poles stay together again as best as possible. You'll need some wire to thread through the fiberglass rods to get the cord through. If you get stuck, search for videos online. For reference, remember that the core should be about 1.5-2.0 poles shorter (unstretched). When you get to the last two bars, pull the cord (not too tight) and wrap the temporary loop around it to keep it taut. Then pull through the last two poles and tie a knot at the end. Untie the…

  • Nice
Cons
  • Some imperfections

It is wonderful.

My favorite leaky 2016 North Face Assault 2 had dead bands in the racks. That was great. I would like a slightly wider diameter, but I'm not arguing. Note to other relative newbies like me: DO NOT CUT the currently dead gum from your sticks. This is a natural impulse, but it will add hours of frustration to your work. The ends of your sticks will actually be pulled out (or pulled out with pliers or even a swiss army knife) - so pull out what you think is the back end, tie a new rubber band to…
