I bought this adapter to replace my son's Alienware laptop. This is a great product for the price. It charges your laptop quickly and doesn't overheat. I didn't realize the importance of getting the right W, V, etc. until I tried buying a cheaper adapter that was slow to charge his laptop and often got hot. So happy I bought the right one for him.

I got this because it's the cheapest AC/DC power supply for my big Alienware 15r3. It does what I would expect from an AC adapter - plug it into the wall and laptop and watch the 'charging' light come on. This works better than the OEM power adapter that came with my laptop which wasn't the Dell Alienware it was supposedly made for. My OEM cable was 180W 19.5V and couldn't handle the demands of a Ryzen 9 3900 CPU with 12 cores and a GTX 1660Ti graphics card. I've had the adapter for 2 months now and it's already defective. The device gets a little warm, but this is not a problem. In my case the problem is where the power cord enters the device. The female socket (part of the block) is loose, so any movement causes a loss of power. On two occasions it took more than 30 minutes for the power cord to turn back on. It's only a matter of time before the customization fails completely and earns me a $50 paperweight.

About the same size as the original but with a handy power light on the laptop connector. Wasn't recognized as a Dell power source when first plugged in, but this problem has gone. That has always worked well. Very satisfied.

I bought this as an extra charger as I need to transport my laptop from room to room (work/music production). This adapter is completely useless. I'm not even sure if it charges my laptop properly, but when I use the HDMI out there's horrible hissing - something between distortion and ring modulator. Loud as hell.
