If you have arthritis it can be difficult to find a grinder without a hard little lid that's difficult to grip. They are large which makes them easy to hold and sharpen. I really don't like grinders with a hole in the bottom where they meet the table. Most importantly, I didn't want to buy this style during a pandemic. They have top holes that are amazing. We've been looking for a new set of salt and pepper shakers for a long time. Either they are too traditional or they don't fit into our kitchen. However, this is an excellent intermediate option. they look good and are very functional. We use them every day and are glad we have them.
