Nice setup - fish and aquatic animals

I have used many sponge filters and this is by far the best I have used as it has an air pump with such added directional power that it can will. into your aquarium to increase water flow

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Nice Look and Energy Saving

This is a nice filter with movement in the middle of the filter. It is also a power saving filter. The air pump only draws 1.5 watts to 3 watts compared to my outboard filter which draws over 10 watts.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Speed

Great for nano aquariums

Nano aquarium filter with air pump only. Yes, please. I wouldn't recommend anything over 10 gallons, it just doesn't have room, but if you have 10 or less it will free up the outlet and lower your electric bills.

Pros
  • Best in class
Cons
  • poorly thought out

Doesn't fit in a 40 gallon tank or just doesn't fit?

Best buy for my 40 gallon turtle tank that hooks up to an air pump that goes up to 60 gallons and it doesn't filter where it's good, the water doesn't flow consistently as per the product description described. I will return this product.

Sponge vs. Biofilter

37 gallon tank Freshwater fish: 12 Snails: 5 I would not use this product as a single filter for anything over 20g in an aquarium that has had its water properly treated and replaced. This type of sponge filter is absolutely not designed to remove heavy metals or chemicals from the water. This device does a good job of removing sediment from the water, which contributes to its transparency, but since the sediment remains submerged in the tank, it can still leach toxins. This is a great device…

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Some minor issues

Amazeballs - aquarium pumps and filters

I haven't had this filter that long, but so far I can only report positive things. It replaced an inferior 20 gallon sponge filter and I couldn't be happier with the replacement. The sponge provided adequate biological filtration, but there was no mechanical filtration and the water movement was blunt. Problem solved. As a rule, I prefer to use box filters, and one can jokingly say that this is a filter box on steroids, or maybe a sponge box hybrid. It's surprisingly well built, moving water…
