Works great, solid mount, rubber tipped screws

Sturdy metal, fits a variety of laser sizes. I liked that the small metal screws have rubber tips on the ends so they don't scratch the laser pointer when you tighten the screws. I bought a meoptex double dovetail mount to put next to the viewfinder. It also cost about $20, slightly cheaper than the Orion brand. It works great too! Highly recommended

Much better than a directional sight!

Why spend money on an expensive rail when you can get one of these laser pointer mounts. They are VERY easy to set up and collimate. Once it's in place, simply turn on the laser and point it at a celestial object and it will be near the center of your field of view. It's also far easier to point at a star directly overhead than it is to squirm to look through a scope or red dot finder. This makes aligning your goto area easy!

Compliant but poorly made

If you want to use a rechargeable (thin) laser pointer instead of a viewfinder or telerad system, this is the mount for it. However, the sample I received was severely misaligned, requiring an equal but opposite offset of the pointer to match the scope's optics. There was enough space with six set screws to do it, but it looks odd. Note: Cheap green lasers are great for this use, but all I've seen are Class III and therefore require extra care to be used safely. Read about it before you make a…
