Description of πŸ“‘ Ardest HC-SR501 Adjustable Infrared Motion Sensor for Arduino & Raspberry Pi Projects - 5 Pairs by Ardest

These are adjustable motion sensors, which have small helpful potentiometers/pots on board to adjust on-time and sensitivity. They work well and do not need a library to run. The PIR sensors have a great range of detection and are easy to connect.Great addition to an Arduino projects. Nice little infrared sensor modules for general motion detection of up to 15 feet and almost never give a false alarm. PIR motion sensors have the jumper breakout for dual-mode operation (as pictured). Works with any SOC, MCU or can even work stand-alone to build quick-n-dirty motion-activated lights, cameras or w/e. Passive infrared detector(PID) worked perfect for automatic light with MQTT and Lua and esp8266 wifi set up with a home assistant hub.

After not being able to find a spy camera with a really working motion detector, I decided to build my own using these devices. They work well and are well rated for the task given their sensitivity and reset timer controls on the side and easy access. (at least with the parts I've had) that only about 45-55 degrees of arc will actually do anything, so careful adjustment is critical, but once the adjustment is complete the part works great.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Requires an outlet

Pros
  • PIR motion detectors have a jumper for dual mode operation (as shown). Works with any SOC, MCU, or even standalone to build fast lights, cameras, etc.
Cons
  • Not sure,
