Heats up very quickly. It doesn't drip much, but it does drip at times, unlike some others. Ideal for craftsmen. I make cat toys and some of these require the use of a hot glue gun. I've tried at least 5 handguns over the years in the business. I only use recommended high temperature glue sticks. As long as it sits idle for a few minutes between uses, the pen is fine, but sometimes hot glue bleeds through the top seal. then I have to scrape off the excess to continue using it. I worked with him all day. And he was fantastic. I kept it in the same spot and there was barely a coin-sized stain from the drips all day. It also stands on an interchangeable chipboard stand that I made for it. So it doesn't matter. Good thing it didn't drip when using it. It boiled instantly, but I usually let them warm up for a few minutes, but I saw puffs of smoke coming out of the iron almost immediately. The best of a long sad line of used hot glue guns. One of the best features of this model is the very handy glue stick feed mechanism. It is too early to speak about the lifespan of the product. I haven't even rated the temperature control yet because I won't know until I've used it for a month or two. I have just received it.
