Great Preamp: Car Audio

Great Preamp. Kick the mechanic on my Jazzman out of the park. All Warwick users are strongly advised to disable their mech. Or any bass really. The mids are much better, the highs too. The bass is not muddy at all when boosted.

Great preamp! for car audio

Great preamp! The gain range is impressive at 9V (probably even more so at 18V). Overall, the sound remains very musical, with no harsh boost when hitting the EQ. I also like the midrange switch, a good option. This preamp keeps the sound focused and adds some warmth to the tone. I am very happy with his skills.

  • Good product for the price

. Give this preamp a chance after all the good reviews and videos everywhere

Decided to give this preamp a chance after all the good reviews and videos everywhere. This preamp is exactly what I was looking for. The sound has a character that I like in the bass (low end with good highs). This preamp features a push-pull potentiometer for the mid-range (400 and 800 Hz) and is perfect for getting the sound you want. Obp 3 has a wide frequency range. I put it on Sterling Ray 35 and now it seems to be on Stingray 5. I recommend it!

Best for Rock Good for cars and auto electronics

I have owned and used several integrated bass preamps including manufacturers like Audere, Bartolini, Glockenklang, Delano and Aguilar. Each has its own special character and each excels in a specific genre or type of music application. Aguilar OPB-3 is great for ROCK! In fact, this is the best onboard rock-voiced preamp I've heard. I have two OBP-3s (18 volt configuration) - one in a Carvin LB75 and the other in a Carvin LB70. The OBP-3 turned some very good bass into rock monsters. All three…

Overall not bad with a few nuances.

What I liked: Very compact. Connection possibility for different average boost/shutdown values. 9V or 18V operation Very nice general operation, but see below. What I didn't like: No factory shielding around a wire in the harness that needs it. I've had other active preamps in the same instrument with no noise issues, and the instrument's resonator is well shielded. I had to make a braided shield around the blue wire and then ground it to make this device completely silent. I expected more from

Great bass response

I recently lost 2 Music Man bass preamps. I replaced my Stingray 5 preamp with a new Stock Music Man preamp. However, I chose the Aguilar OBP-3TK/PP in my Stingray 4-string as I preferred it over other preamps available for a number of reasons. 1) Easy to find. Many of the other bass preamps available are not sold in stores or online. You have to order through a dealer who then orders from the manufacturers. I had no luck with that. It can take a long time to do this. And buying a replacement…
