Perfect for the shrimp tank

I was struggling to fit this onto the inlet tube of my Aquaclear 50 until I had the brilliant idea of running the seal under hot water for a few seconds. The pre-filter works great in my shrimp tank.

Pros
  • Happy so far
Cons
  • Nothing here

Perfect for Fluval/Aquaclear 110!

The 16mm diameter is perfect for the Fluval 110, also known as the Aquaclear 110. All you have to do is remove the rubber O-ring and put it on the inlet pipe, er fits perfectly and doesn't fall off! It even serves as a feeding ground for Plenos.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Some bugs

NOT STAINLESS STEEL - Kills fish if metals get into the water

I can confirm it's not 100% stainless steel as the magnet will hold it. So if you put it in an aquarium there is a good chance the metal will get into the water and harm the fish and/or coral. I'm not sure what exactly is in the metal but I can say it's not stainless steel and should only be stainless steel in your aquarium.

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • I don't remember

Fits perfectly with my Fluval 30 filter

I used to have a sponge filter but it slows water flow resulting in devastating algae blooms. I had to remove all algae manually. The mesh filter does not slow down the water filtration and protects baby shrimp from entering the water intake. This product is simply necessary if you have juvenile fish and small crustaceans in your aquarium. In addition, it looks cool and the shrimp like to collect food from it.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Does not fit AquaClear 110 main inlet tube

Bought this because another reviewer said it would fit the AquaClear 110. However, it only fits on the stepped part of the inlet pipe. Even without the rubber gasket, the hole (ID 18mm) is too small for the main part of the intake pipe (27mm). But the product looks as described. It is made of fine wire mesh that is easy to bend. The metal edges are sharp and you can cut them. The inner diameter of the flexible rubber pad is 14mm but can be stretched up to approximately 18mm.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Thin but works better than a sponge pre-filter

Difficult to apply and mesh folds easily so be careful! After carefully rolling up my AC50, I used petroleum jelly and hot water to put it on! Once on my filter I noticed a lot more output flow! The old sponge pre-filters clog up in my tank after a week and also greatly reduce the discharge flow. It might work for some but it became a problem and I got algae blooms due to poor circulation. Works great in a planted tank and the holes are small enough to prevent small shrimp being sucked in, so I

Almost Perfect.: Fish & Aquatic Animals

I was looking for an alternative to the sponge pre-filter for my canister filter that is attached to my planted aquarium. I needed something that would fit over my glass lily pipe and it was ALMOST perfect. It has a flexible rubber collar that fits thicker diameter Lily Tubes that other screen covers I've tried didn't have. It's dense but slides relatively easily when you wet the lily pipe. My only complaint is that it's not long enough to cover all of the intake fins in the lily pipe, but I've
