They are affordable and work well. They could last longer, but they're not that expensive, so replacing them often isn't a big deal. The metal housing does a great job of holding the filter in place, but if you don't replace the filter as recommended, the metal will crack and end up in the water. allegedly harmful chemicals that some other brands use to manufacture their products. Highly recommended!

I change the filters once a week during the high humidity season. There is always a ring of mineral deposits at the top of the filter. I've found that I can soak the deposits in white vinegar for about 30 minutes by rolling them so they stand upright in a round cake pan and adding just enough vinegar to cover the deposits. The filter my aircare came with sometimes raised the temperature in the room to 40, at least 30, this filter allowed to raise the humidity only to 28 and in most cases less than 20.
