Description of Aircast Air Stirrup Ankle Support Brace

Commonly worn immediately after an ankle injury and throughout recovery; Low-profile structure allows for minimal bulk while wearing shoes. Intended to prevent or treat acute ankle injuries, chronic instability, post-operative use and ankle sprains grade I, II, and III. Semi-rigid, anatomically designed shells are lined with patented Duplex air cells, which help stabilize and protect the ankle. Pre-inflated air cells provide pulsating compression while walking, enhance circulation and reduce swelling and edema. Aircast Air-Stirrup Ankle Support Brace resists inversion more than taping, yet normal flexion is virtually unrestricted.

Excellent support for minor sprains

I had a really hard time walking after spraining my ankle. I spent several days wading around the house before finally deciding to order these braces - and I'm glad I did! With this bandage I was able to move around the house much more easily than I had the previous two days. I no longer had to jump on one leg as I was able to put some pressure on my left foot without causing too much pain. The fit was adjustable. The straps were Velcro and I was able to adjust the bandage to the width of my…

wrong for me I needed more support.

Not for me! I got a black ankle bandage from my podiatrist. I had no luck with that. Went to college. I ordered this which was $50 less than my ankle brace. I have shoe size 6 1/2. It was great. It hurt to wear it. Took an old ankle brace and shortened the strap by 1 1/2 inches on both sides. Hand stitched, works great. It has a back strap. Something not on this one. Thus, the ankle brace was less effective. This can work for those who only need ankle support. But the strap didn't fit my lower…

I love and hate this brace at the same time

I broke my ankle. My doctor wanted me to sleep in orthopedic boots but they were too uncomfortable. But I couldn't sleep without the corset either because my ankle hurt. It is much more comfortable to sleep in this orthosis or even wear it at home to take a break from orthopedic shoes. I love it because it's more comfortable than my boot. However, I am also annoyed by brackets. The position can shift slightly forward or backward, causing the plastic to press painfully on the sides of my ankles.

Pros
  • The Aircast Air-Stirrup ankle brace resists twisting better than bonding with virtually no normal flexing
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
