partly rubbish! - Fuel Pumps and Accessories

Installed the pump, drove the car 5km and the pump started leaking fuel out of the vent, had to tow the car home. Very disappointed!

Pros
  • New to my collection

No matching part, although Revane says it is.

The pump shaft is too long and does not work. I got it working but it failed a mile down the road. Had to be towed back to the house. Don't do this, but if you have a 110hp 164ci engine. 1964 for Corvair. It won't work and will save you 4 days of frustration while you figure it out.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Some disadvantages

Perfect for later 1961 thru 1969 Corvairs

Perfect for my husband's Corvair! He wasn't happy with the typical Corvair dealer prices and didn't want to switch to an electric fuel pump. That helped! FYI, they will not work with 1960 or early 1961 models. The length of the pump slide is different.

Pros
  • Finally bought
Cons
  • Makes me angry

Guarantee? What is the guarantee?

Right price. Works fine until it works. Bought May 2020, stopped working as of March 2021. Airtex guarantee phone number not working. Instead I left a message on their customer service number. I sent an email to their customer support. And I used the contact form on their website. Didn't get an answer from them. Maybe they're out of business?

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

It is not suitable for Corvair.

The notch for the bolt that holds it is too small for the bolt, so it's almost impossible to tell if it's in the right place. The shaft that drives the pump is longer than a standard pump and will rupture the pump diaphragm with prolonged use. The pump leaked almost immediately after installation. It's best to just use a low-flow electric pump. You can no longer buy a good mechanical replacement. I heard these pumps were good until they were outsourced.
