One that could detect comet/asteroid collisions like Tungusta.

Suitable for about half a mt. Also, a silicone ring is included if you want to frame it. So air pressure can affect it. Not as accurate as my old mercury barometer, but not toxic either. In addition, unlike a barograph, it does not require its own vibration-free, temperature-controlled room. Although I've always wanted a world class barograph. One that could detect comet/asteroid collisions like Tungusta.

Pros
  • Measures in both metric units and millibars of mercury.
Cons
  • Ugly packaging.

Exactly what I was looking for.

Wow, my barometer arrived quickly, sooner than I thought. The packaging is good, as is the condition of the item. To calibrate my barometer, I first checked the current air pressure in my area using the online weather service. I then rotated the dial on the back of the device and adjusted the gauge to match the reported barometric pressure for my location - which is now 29.9 - as the barometric pressure changes, the dial moves on its own. Then I place a seconds hand on top of the barometer…

Pros
  • Comes with a soft plastic adjustment ring for tight friction in a 55mm hole
Cons
  • Slightly torn

The barometer is ok, but the delivery really stinks!

I ordered this barometer because it is called the Double Aneroid Scientific Barometer. I've had it for about a week and only after a bit of testing did I get around to writing this review. Well, so far it seems quite sensitive to pressure changes, which is great from my point of view. We've had several low pressure systems and it pretty much shows a drop (or rise) in pressure. I've found that the needle can sometimes move 2 or 3 tenths of an inch when turned face down. Interesting. I've also…

Pros
  • Ajax Scientific Aneroid Barometer Dial
Cons
  • Little things
