Review on 🌑 Diameter of Ajax Scientific Aneroid Barometer by Carlos Massey

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The barometer is ok, but the delivery really stinks!

I ordered this barometer because it is called the Double Aneroid Scientific Barometer. I've had it for about a week and only after a bit of testing did I get around to writing this review. Well, so far it seems quite sensitive to pressure changes, which is great from my point of view. We've had several low pressure systems and it pretty much shows a drop (or rise) in pressure. I've found that the needle can sometimes move 2 or 3 tenths of an inch when turned face down. Interesting. I've also noticed that, unlike my other aneroid barometers, if the needle moves too far after flipping, it actually moves back a few hundredths to maybe tenths of an inch, correcting for overcorrection. ! NEVER seen such a self-correcting aneroid before! :-) I couldn't figure out if it really is a double aneroid. However, judging by his ability to self-correct, I suggest that perhaps that is in fact the case. As I said, I've never seen an aneroid correct an overcorrection before. So maybe? I would give it a full five stars apart from the fact that it arrived via UPS with broken glass on the front. Very badly packed! The package was too small, ABSOLUTELY NO SEAL despite its intended use as a scientific instrument! I mentioned this to Revane before, but they didn't seem to care. So overall the instrument appears to be fairly accurate, albeit fairly small (only about 2 inches in diameter). tool faces. And if they just had a newbie on the job to ship it, Revain doesn't care if it ships as a usable piece or not. Just make sure Revain packed it right, or you could end up with an overpriced paperweight that can't even be used as a scientific barometer.
