Some modifications required

This badge was fitted to a 2004 Chevy pickup. The machined holes on the back have been powder coated to prevent threading of the stainless steel studs. I had to run a tap in each hole to clean them. Includes SS threaded bolt. I didn't care. I replaced them with long stainless steel screws to ensure the threads reach the badge. I then had to drill large holes in the grate to fit. After installation everything looked fine. The installation time was about an hour. Should have been 15 minutes.

Put it on today, it looks great. I had a little problem though

Wearing it today, looks great. Although I had a small problem. As others here have said that the bolts stretch when you "over-tighten" them, I had a puller and IMHO I didn't over-tighten them. I mixed up some quick drying epoxy and dripped it into each hole and then screwed the studs back in. I left it for 2 hours and was able to tighten them so I didn't think they were loose. If the manufacturer did this they might not have this problem, but how am I supposed to know?

Mounting holes do not match

The emblem looks great and looks like decent quality. For the price I can't complain. But only 2 things to make this product better. First the threads for the studs had to be deburred a bit, the studs were difficult to screw in and I had to push them in all the way with pliers. Second, the hole pattern isn't the same as the old emblem, I would estimate it to be around 3/16 inch. Again, no big deal, I just used a carbide bur to cut the holes on the grille into the slots and the emblem snapped…

Heavy metal, good quality

Very nice product. Good quality. Looks great on my Chevy 04 2500HD! The only complaint I have, and it's not a big deal, was that after installing the pins (they come separately and you screw them in with a small hex head) and even though one of the holes in my grill is oblong, always nor had to "tidy up" the edges of both holes so I could insert them. It's probably better to have it tight than loose. I added silicone sealant to the back of the emblem and the stud threads to prevent vibration…

Perfect fit for 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500

I was hesitant to buy this emblem because the car company Revain said it didn't fit my 2004 Chevy Silverado but I ordered it anyway based on other reviews. . I installed it last night and it fits perfectly! It has a slight curve that perfectly matches the curve of the grill. This is a one piece metal piece that looks very well made; much better quality than the gold plastic emblem I replaced. Installation was very easy - it's pretty easy and you can probably figure it out for yourself, but…

Pros
  • Year test
Cons
  • Negative gift

I have to say I found this very disappointing. This is a very cheap design. The only reason I'm not giving it a star is because it's still better than Chevy's plastic and aluminum foil efforts. The aluminum it is made of is soft. The instructions warn against over-tightening the screw during installation as you will strip the threads from the emblem. It should say just hand tighten it during installation. Use a socket wrench and it will strip the threads with VERY LOW torque. It doesn't help…
