Assembling with my 7 year old as it is over 5 years old is imprecise even I had some trouble reading the tiny Ikea style instructions. It would be great to have labeled wooden pieces and more detailed instructions for a child to assemble. Anyway, we had fun finding the pieces and putting the lion together. Once in place, all parts fit together exactly for painting. The paint dries quickly, which is very convenient, it can be washed. Great gift idea!

I'm confused by all the good reviews. Maybe we got a defective device? My daughter and I wanted to give her father such a gift. Some parts were very difficult to assemble. A tiny piece of sandpaper was sent in to "smooth out rough edges" which I think meant "sanding the pieces to size". I ended up breaking off a piece and trying to push the pieces together. (Yes, I'm sure it was the right piece.) $25 and a birthday present down the drain. :(

I was happy with the finished unicorn but the direction is poor and the part numbering is confusing. This is surprising as one would think that the company would put more effort into making the instructions as simple and easy to understand as possible. It says 5+ on it but I doubt a 5 year old could put it together alone. I would advise an adult to look at the details, identify them and "mentally" assemble the unicorn before giving it to an 8-5 year old. I don't think it's a good gift unless…

Bought to assemble with my 8 year old daughter. I'm not sure how easy it would have been for her to do it on her own, but with my guidance she did great. The parts are easy to take out of the box and fit together very well. All in all, my daughter had a great time working together. The only thing I have are the paint colors that come in the kit. Bought this cute puzzle for my 3 year old to get together with me. I knew it might be too difficult for her to help when I bought it, but I figured she would do her best to help me. I wanted it to be a hands-on learning puzzle before the fun drawing challenge comes into play. Unfortunately I'm not sure, maybe we got a bad one or this model is just a little shortened.
