good product, works as expected

works as expected. it's like a giant cheese cutter. I suggest using a piece of wood to line the sides of the clay block before cutting. This will give you the best chance of matching tiles of the same size. I like that it keeps a good distance.

Pros
  • Availability
Cons
  • Some defects

Cool gadget for art teachers!

I'm the worst at giving every kid in my class the same amount of play dough. Old fashioned wire cutters always gave me wobbly pieces. It took me a while to get used to it, but once I did I had pretty much perfect records for every kid. That was great! I had a bit of trouble cutting it to the bottom of the tone, but I suspect it was mostly user error. Seriously because I used my needle to clean up the edges and almost broke it! While this thing just cuts through with no problem. I only used itโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Same as all
Cons
  • quality

Perfect slicer for my applications

I have been using changeable slicers for a long time but came across this slicer while looking for other things. I love this slicer! The clay comes off the brick evenly which makes my life a lot easier. The ceramist is highly recommended.

Pros
  • Provides smooth and precise cuts
Cons
  • Fade

Suitable for small jobs

Not the strongest and not the biggest, but enough for cutting panels at home when your cooperative workshop is closed due to the pandemic. You must be careful when pulling the plate through as the cutting edge will move if not kept perfectly straight. However, it's a lot easier than wire if, like me, you can't cut straight with wire, even marking clay! If you're good with wire, you don't need it.

Pros
  • Made of thick stainless steel wire
Cons
  • Doubtful

Easy to use and time-saver for lesson preparation

I use this to cut clay slabs and give them out to my students. I carry a bag of clay from table to table and can quickly cut out a piece of clay and then have the student at the table divide the clay into equal pieces for each student at the table. It saves me a lot of prep time and the panels are pretty much a consistent size. Very easy to use and my students watch me fascinated as I cut the panels.

Pros
  • Adjustable guide handle moves up or down to create different slab sizes
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
