The reinforced knees are good and the fit is good overall. The only downside is that the lace is not elastic. When your kid is tall and skinny and needs a size bigger than they really need, the elastic drawstring becomes really important. All in all, the Cat and Jack brand pant with almost identical construction but with elastic drawstring waist is a better product for the price and better.

I bought two sets of these pants. My son who is a size 6/7 had a drawstring to dress him up in and my daughter (same gray and blue pants) who is a size 4/5 didn't have a proper drawstring just a little bit for a tie. There is no way to tighten the waist. Useless to them! Great pants for my son.

My son usually wears a size 4 and that's what I got. They fit him well so I would say they are true to size. This is a very thick fabric, unlike most garments currently made. The waist is elastic. There are no buttonholes to tighten them and the waist is a bit big for my son but not so big that they fall off. The cotton bands in the front can pull the pants taut, but he doesn't tie them himself, so that's a bit of a concern. The length is good. My main complaint is that they have a second layer

I like this pants set very much. They are great for my 3.5 year old with room to grow. The elastic waistband fits snugly but does not constrict. There are seams on the knees to give a little more freedom of movement and they look like they are reinforced but they aren't. It adds a nice touch to your everyday look. They are good for the price but a bit large in the waist. I also see this as a common complaint from other reviewers. I took a chance and hoped the tip would make it work, but it didn't. There is no elastic at the waist and the drawstring is not enough to tighten it. You need to tighten it so tightly that it becomes uncomfortable for the child to use the toilet, especially since there is no bow tie either. I used my sewing skills to sew in the elastic but won't be buying it again.
