I am a professional photographer and videographer and while these stands do not fall into the "pro" category I use them in many cases where I have accessories in corners or I have the flash lights mounted on top (a 1/4-20 threaded pole is standard), the audio mics mounted on the pole, the GoPro cameras mounted and basically any small equipment you need to support. I always seem to need one more bedside table than I have so this is a good economical option to keep a few more on the shelf. There is a groove on the shank to limit twisting, I'm not sure if I like it or not but each situation will have its own slant and I suspect this gives strength to the pipe so that's it saved weight is a big plus.
