Didn't charge my phone!

I bought this unit thinking it would make a great gift and very useful as a phone charger. I was a lot less concerned about the flashlight. I also have a festival I'm going to this weekend and I thought it would be way better than a portable power supply because they run out of power while manual power is pretty much unlimited. Well my phone died last night and I thought great! Let's test this charger. I twirled and twirled and my phone said low battery but it never turned on. Every time I…

Do Not Buy Phone Charger

I bought the American Red Cross's Clipray Manual Smartphone Charger and Flashlight specifically for its smartphone charging feature. However, it doesn't seem to have enough power for the Samsung Galaxy 8. There aren't really any instructions, so I turned it on and plugged it in first. My phone didn't even register that it was trying to create a schedule, so I tried booting it up while it was connected to my phone. On startup my phone showed it was in charging mode but after 5 minutes of startup

Very cheaply made in spare parts

This refers to rubbish somewhere in a landfill. Or at least it will get there shortly after purchase. Made from cheap plastic, the lever you turn breaks after a month. It was fine after a few weeks but after that the cheap plastic gets weaker and weaker as you turn the crank until it clicks! and you can't put it back together, maybe you can try putting cement glue on it, but that will probably stick everything together and you won't be able to turn it at all! Another problem I had was when the…

Not for emergency preparedness in my opinion

Bought 4 of these units in December 2012 for emergency preparedness. I checked my inventory once a year. And these flashlights are no exception. This year I tested them and to my surprise all 4 did NOT work. They all started normally and the green indicator light came on at startup, but when I turned them on they didn't light up. I didn't know what to think. Here I thought I was preparing for an emergency only to be let down by false security. Well since they were all bad I figured it wouldn't…

Mediocre design with missing features that should be provided

I ordered this to have a spare light as well as a backup method of charging my phone and other items. Unfortunately, although it has an internal battery, the only way to charge it seems to be by cranking it. Why it didn't occur to the designer to allow charging via USB is unclear. Build quality is mediocre at best. The clip is so weak that once it gets caught on a bush in the woods it seems like it will come loose. Unless you're distracted by desperately trying to manually start it from a dead…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Has issues

Very light construction so don't expect it to last very long. I can see it will help you survive an emergency, but other than that I would doubt it's permanent. You can feel the very thin plastic case flexing in your hand as you scroll. If they added $0.50 more plastic it would be very durable. load 1 watt. generally slows down and the charge rate drops to 0.5W when the voltage drops below 5 volts. Spinning very fast does not increase charging speed or cause power surges. So if you spin at a…

My phone won't charge, strong flashlight beam

Flashlight was well charged upon delivery. It has a handle, three LEDs, a USB mobile phone charger and a carabiner. There is a green light on the top that lights up when the device is charging. return troublesome, so I'll go. However, here are a few things I want to know before buying. Get ready to shoot a lot. The first charge took several hours. Since then, the LED batteries only light up for a few minutes and then dim. the brightest light, when the device is cranked. Stop cranking and the…
