I had to adjust the hinge so it was long enough to fit our bowl. Did it, no problem. Assembled as shown. All is well. After about a month, the seat is so loose that every time you sit down, you're going to ride. But the most interesting thing is that he somehow managed to twist himself back into a shorter position so that he no longer fits in the bowl! I'm still confused as to how this happened. For aesthetic reasons I wanted a regular white toilet seat but the one I had was stained with someone else's blue jeans. I don't know whose. I have three children and none of them admitted it.
