I don't understand the high ratings. I wanted a no-frills cleaning knife that just works, but it doesn't! This is the worst cleaning knife I have ever received. It slips and slides across the carrot skin and doesn't cut properly, so I have to press pretty hard and even then it doesn't work properly.

This peeler is a very good size, feels good in the hand but there is too much space between the blades. It gets too deep under the skin, so I add too much vegetable/fruit pulp to the compost. It's the vegetable peeler on the right. it's longer and the grip isn't as wide as the one on the left, but I do complain about how hard it digs things it shouldn't.

1 star for sharpness. 1 star for stainless steel. The pen has a terrible design. Very uncomfortable. The metal of the handle is so thin that it breaks so badly during use that it's terribly annoying. I liken a swivel knife to driving a car that meanders from one side of the road to the other. I only keep it because it's better for peeling potatoes than a paring knife.

Lechay is currently (December 2020) selling three of these devices for about the same price as this one. The handle is so thin it's not much thicker than the end of a knife blade. that the edges make the grip unwieldy. I didn't want the device to be plastic, but it's a lot weaker than the cheap Echo brand sharpeners of yesteryear. If you want a solid device that's built to last for years to come, look elsewhere.

Fantastic knife. The best. 10 times better than the $3 version you find at any grocery store. It's worth it if you're going to be peeling any fruit or veg at all. My husband has been looking for a good cleaning knife for a long time and he said he wants the same as before. old fashioned look! I bought several and none were in good condition and some were quite expensive! I saw this at Revain and just ordered it for him hoping it would fill the bill and it certainly did! He loves to. He said it doesn't clog and clicks easily. He also used it in place of his lemon zest this week and had to call me to tell me how great it was. I highly recommend it.
