The picture is a bit deceptive as there is no comparison to size when ordering. That's a lot less than I expected. As you can see from the picture it comes in a 4 x 6 inch box. It appears to work as advertised, so no complaints about functionality. It doesn't look like old style rope lighting. Also note that the plug will not fit into an external sealed outlet that I could find, so you may need an extension cord with a 90 degree plug so you can keep the outlet covered.

I've had a dozen brands of these lanterns, they seem to be much more durable than those made entirely of metal thread. The tubes around them made them better for wrapping our trees. I'll say this though, while wrapping my palms you need to hold the wire HERE so it doesn't roll down the tree and stay in place. Was surprised when I saw the tiny box of bulbs as I was expecting real ROPE cords as shown in the photo. However, the light I got was more like a garland so I decided to try it out so I turned it on without taking my tie off and put it on the windowsill. They only shone brightly for three nights when the sun went down. They stopped working after the third night, so I'll be back. I'm so glad I didn't take the time to put them on my fence just for them to stop working after 3 nights.

Bought these a while ago and just found time to install them on the fence. There is a factory link in the middle of the string that is VERY weak (read other negative reviews).
