This tool offers high precision at a very good price. It's not an essential tool for woodworking, especially furniture, but it's a step up. The quality is really good. There are always better and more expensive tools, but for the do-it-yourselfer this is more than enough. Hope this helps with the decision.

I use self centering tooling to make furniture and handles and it's expensive but worth it. The centering process is accurate to within 2mm at full extension and improves as the template closes. It's enough for almost everything I do. The guide bushes are excellent and you get two of each size. I recommend treating them with a light oil so they don't wear out too quickly. (I don't know if a replacement can be purchased.)

Although a bit overpriced, the quality of the instrument is quite good and it feels good in the hand when tuning. As with most specialty tools, you won't be using this tool all the time so it's hard to justify the over price, but if you need accuracy in dowel placement then it certainly does and it's a lot of headache. always produces a cheaper/inferior tool. The fit and finish is good and installation is much easier than cheaper alternatives.

This dowel clamp is very strong, I was pleasantly surprised when I took it out of the box. The adjustment mechanism is very smooth, there is no play and everything fits together very well. The bushings that come with it aren't the prettiest machined parts I've seen, but they're every bit as good as the ones I made in my home workshop, so no. The real complaint is there given the price.
