Description of 📡 TWAYRDIO High Gain Yagi Antenna 144/430MHz, 100W, Dual Band 2M/70cm with UHF Female Connector for VHF UHF Mobile Radio, Two-Way Radio, FM Transceiver – Aluminum Alloy Yagi Antennas

Frequency range: 144/430MHz; work for all kinds of dual band (VHF/UHF) mobile radios and walkie-talkies which rated power under 100W. 9.5dBi/11.5dBi high gain yagi antenna can communicate over a longer distance than normal antennas. TX/RX works better when yagi antenna is installed in an open area such as an apartment balcony or rooftop. The length of the beam: 93cm; The length of the element: 105cm (the longest one); Weight: 0.75Kg. Most parts of yagi antenna are made of lightweight aluminum alloy, easy to assemble and install. Rated Wind Velocity: 60 m/s; Connector: UHF Female; The diameter of mounting mast: Ø30~Ø60 mm. UHF female connector is suitable for coaxial cable with SL16 male/PL259 connector. Antenna works best when the element is perpendicular/parallel to the ground. This yagi antenna work for radios such as Motorola, Kenwood, Yaesu, Icom and so on.

Operates at the lower end of the 2m HAM band

Assembly is easy - the instructions have numbers or letters for each connection and all parts are clearly labelled. Requires #2 Phillips screwdriver for larger screws and #1 for smaller screws. The construction is solid and well designed in that regard. My antenna is preset at 143MHz (a bit low for 2m) and 435MHz. Regardless of where I positioned the gamma match, the best I could get was 144.3MHz with a 2:1 SWR, and it was higher on the rest of the US 2m ham band. I wish it would work right…

Pros
  • The 9.5dBi/11.5dBi high gain Yagi antenna can transmit data over a longer distance than traditional antennas. TX/RX works best when the Yagi antenna is in an open space such as a hallway. B. an apartment balcony or a roof terrace is installed.
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Poor fit and finish

Wasn't impressed with the fit and finish of the hardware on this antenna. First, it is fixed in the position of vertical polarization - there is no way to rotate it to a horizontal position. Almost all of my works have a weak signal on 2m and 70cm. The elements are flimsy to say the least. The supplied screws are not suitable for holding the element tubes together. I had to get hold of self tapping screws that would work. Compression clamps would be much better as the bolts wear out over time…

Pros
  • Rated wind speed: 60 m/s; Connection: UHF socket; Pole diameter: Ø30~Ø60mm. The UHF socket is suitable for coaxial cables with SL16/PL259 connectors.
Cons
  • Obsolete Model

Interesting to collect.

I think some of the stickers on the different parts have come off because it took me a little time to figure out which is which. But if you look closely, it's easy to understand which part goes where. It is installed in my attic in hopes that it will eventually come out from the outside of the pole. I recommend, but be careful when assembling.

Pros
  • Frequency Range: 144/430MHz; Works with all types of dual-band (VHF/UHF) cellular radios and walkie-talkies rated less than 100 watts.
Cons
  • A few bits and pieces

Narrow bandwidth, you have to adjust to your specific repeater.

The antenna was assembled fairly quickly. Good that everything is in such a small box. There were no extra screws, so don't lose or tear them off. For testing, I mounted this antenna on a paint pole at the edge of a ravine behind my house, where my TV antenna gets good reception. I can only test VHF but that's where most of the signals I'm interested in are, but if you want to use this antenna on 70cm you'll need an antenna analyzer that can work there or at least a decent SWR meter in your…
