Solid for the price.

More than satisfied with the purchase. After constantly using cheap $3-5 Walmart irons, I finally wanted to upgrade to something more decent that would be able to change attachments without having to buy a brand new iron. Can't say much about the heat accuracy, I just leave it between 4-5 and don't have a good way to check, but for my hobby projects it's good enough. Best and most amazing is the durability of the included tip, which outperforms all previous Walmart irons and quite a few others.

Very happy with Aoyue 469, here are the dial temperatures.

This soldering station fits me very well. I bought original Hakko tips and they all fit with no problems. I replaced the sponge with a real brass wire sponge (thrown out the brass colored steel sponge) Holder for cleaning the tips. I made the station much stronger by attaching all the parts with JB Weld. Using a medium-tipped Hakko tip and a Hakko FG 100 soldering iron thermometer, I got these average tip temperatures. When the dial is set to #1, which is "Low,โ€ 250 degrees C or 482 degrees Fโ€ฆ

Good for melting circuit boards and components, but useless for soldering. I regret the purchase.

Purchased: January 17, 2015 Pros:+ Convenient stand and sponge rest, although you still need a metal wool tip cleaner and holder as there is no built in holder. + Spare and replacement tips are available to purchase inexpensively, which you MUST do immediately.+ Includes only one tip that can be discarded. You no longer have to look inside the box. The Bad: - MUST buy high quality attachments or you will destroy all your projects. - The iron is not 60 W (70 W was specified at the time ofโ€ฆ
