I really liked the lens but the problem was that the focus ring was very difficult to turn when needed and as a result some cool shots were lost.

GREAT CAMERA LENS, NUMBERS ARE EASY TO READ, RINGS ARE MANDATORY BUT EASY TO MOVE, YOU FEEL YOU HAVE A QUALITY LENS. NO PLASTIC FEELING. VERY ACCURATE IN AUTOFOCUS AND MANUAL. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS LENS.

If you can focus manually then you'll love this lens. Of the minuses, in my opinion, there are only two - 1. the focus ring is not smooth, which makes it difficult to fine-tune the focus, 2. chromatic aberration with an open aperture 1.8.NO! If you know what you're doing, then it shouldn't matter much.

First day with 85mm manual focus lens. Honestly, just take it! So much value for the high quality images this lens produces. I've used many AF lenses but they can focus on the wrong points. Manual focus lets you really fine-tune the image. I feel in control and can focus in seconds to capture a picture of a moving target.

I'll go ahead and rate this based on what most people want to know: Yes, it's pretty sharp, even wide open. Edge sharpness is not bad considering the price. At f/1.8 vignetting is minimal, but at f/4 it disappears completely. But even with an open aperture it doesn't matter. It's quite a large lens, but it's also light.
