Apple Barrel Gloss Acrylic Paint (8 oz) in Assorted Colors - Discover 20408 Gloss White! Review

I was looking for a good acrylic paint and found this one. Regular acrylic paint is chalky and flaky. I really like the intensity of this color. The colors are vibrant and the layering works great when it dries slightly! Lays on the screen like clockwork! Although not very thick. But I add more layers if needed, it dries quickly. I just wish they had more colors to choose from. The price suits me too! I have bought all the primary colors so far.

When I opened this bottle it had an unbearably musty smell and gave me a headache almost immediately. The seal was not broken before I opened it. I bought other colors and they were ok. My headache lasted two days. I had to return it so Apple Barrel could figure out what their problem was. I know others who sometimes get a bottle of Apple Barrel with the same problem. It seems to be the exception to the rule. Maybe a memory problem?

I was VERY disappointed with Glossy Black acrylic paint. I applied it over a black gesso primer (that had been applied to bare, untreated wood) after trying two different bottles of the supposed Glossy Black, but both bottles were completely matte. Like an almost chalky matte finish. Absolutely no shine, and it shows all the little fingerprints. Yes, I shake the bottles before applying. Now I have to go find another product to add some shine.

Apple Barrel Gloss Acrylic Paint is no longer sold by Michaels and other craft organizations in Canada. I have been making wooden toys since 2000. This is the only color that perfectly matches wood. Two layers and the wood structure is not visible. The new paint from Michaels is awful, it takes at least 4 coats to paint/varnish the toy. I was happy to see that Revain has The Applele Glossy Barrel Paint. Shopping was quick and efficient, even Sunday delivery.

I've been very disappointed with the Apple Barrel lately. I don't know what's up with the QUALITY of their paint. It has changed in the last 6 months or so. A smooth, bright glossy color has turned into a matt, clumpy glossy color. It no longer mixes with other colors and sometimes has a terrible smell.
