Little footprint. Nice and Quiet

256 gph. Very small but good flow and quiet. I put it in a sump to keep the waste from settling to the bottom of the return pump section.

You get what you pay for

This pump has a heavy flow and is great for breaking up the surface and adding ripple and circulation to my 75 gallon pump. The bad thing is that when I use it with a timer, in the morning it starts backwards and sucks in water (and fish) before finally correcting itself and returning to the correct flow direction. It's very loud, much louder than my FX6 canister filter. I need something more complex that can handle different loops and run in the background.

Cons
  • No Automatic

It falls from your glass

What's good: price water movement What's bad: suction cup doesn't last long. I have 2 other magnetic power heads and they haven't moved an inch since they were installed. This aquatop has crashed at least 4 times in less than 6 months. I'll fix it for sure - it seems stable. And then I happen to find about once a month that it's ripped off the glass. More than once it's knocked coral off the cliff, carried sand everywhere, etc. It's quite difficult to install at first, and then it pops up…

  • Air pumps
Cons
