It's probably better for 3-5 gallon tanks

It says up to 3 gallons which might fool you into thinking you could use it in a smaller gallon tank. It's too much for a small tank and you can't adjust it. This is probably better for 3-5 gallon tanks. It works and my beta is much happier, but I have to keep an eye on it all the time because the temperature gets too high. I'm not sure where the temp actually stops but I turn it off when the tank goes above 82 .I'm fairly new to beta care so. EAT it.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Questionable buy for seniors

Avoid if you care about your fish.

I bought a 7.5W heater for a 5G faucet aquarium. At first it worked quite well and my aquarium heated up 2 degrees above room temperature (e.g. when the room was 78, the thermometer showed 80). However, after almost 3 weeks I did a partial water change in my aquarium and noticed an oily residue on the water surface. Upon closer inspection, I found that the residue came from the heater (see picture). Not sure what it is, but it's oily when touched and burns the skin (like a chemical burn). I…

Great heater for the price.

I use this heater in my 3 gallon aquarium during the winter and late fall when my central heating is set to 72 it keeps my aquarium between 78 and 80. In the spring, summer and early fall i need to swap out this heater for a smaller one as my summer house temp is 74-75 and this heater heats a 3 gallon tank over 80. So plan to keep this heater warm in your house. 3 gallon tank 8 degrees above room temperature. Probably warm 5 gallons 5 degrees above room temperature. You cannot control the…

Mine didn't work: Aquarium Heater

I ordered this and loved it because I wanted my fish to have a warmer home and it was a good size but not too big . The downside is that it only needs to heat up a few degrees above room temperature, which may not be enough for some people. There's no temperature setting or anything that even indicates it's on and running. Unfortunately he was in my tank for several days and he didn't change the temperature at all. I probably got a broken one. I didn't bother looking for a replacement as I…

First one didn't work, second one worked damn well

Loved the shape/size of the heater. The reviews said that for a 5 liter tank is great. I received it, read the instructions and put it in the tank. It didn't get warm at all. I turned it off I tried that, it didn't work. I read the instructions again, nothing. So I unplugged the whole outlet and still nothing. Very disappointed and frustrated as I was looking forward to this cute heater. I have a 5 gallon Marineland Portrait tank with Cockfish and 2 Scarlet tubs. i want it to work I would…

  • Doubtful

When using this heater make sure you have a thermometer to check the temperature. Another person wrote that you can cook fish in a 1 gallon tank. Real Answer: It depends on the temperature in your house. I use this heater in my 1 gallon battle tank. I put it on the bottom. I keep my house at 70 degrees and the tank heats up to 82, when my house is at 68 degrees the temperature of the tank is 80. You see a trend. So if your house, apartment, or other place where you have a fish tank is around…
