Had a stain on it when I got it

The blanket didn't have a fowl odor but it did have a stain. Also it is warm if you double it up not when it is spread out.I want to love this product but I can't get past the stain. Quality control.

Pros
  • The plaid design of these blankets adds a touch of sophistication to any outdoor adventure
Cons
  • May attract lint and dust

A utility blanket: my feedback

. . . by which I mean that it's suitable for keeping in the car for emergencies or when a warm blanket might be needed. Some reviewers had complained about the smell, but it is not strong and does not bother me. It's a bit of spinning oil from the manufacturing process, but to me it smells like a wool blanket! If the smell bothers you, you could air it out on a clothesline out of direct sunlight. Denser fabric than I expected - not much drape, but again it's not a blanket to put on a bed. My…

Pros
  • PLENTY OF ROOM FOR ALL - Large size (64" x 88") will keep you and a friend cozy while camping, at a tailgate, sporting event, an outdoor concert or just as an emergency blanket in your vehicle.
Cons
  • May not be as durable in high traffic areas

A lint monster: my feedback

After a few months of use, I started noticing that I had to sweep the floor daily. This blanket sheds lint with the same kinda persistence as sand in a pair of cross-trainers. I'm honestly astonished there is still a blanket left. Save this one to line your dog's bed. That being said, it's actually warm.

Pros
  • Made from high-quality materials, these blankets are both durable and long-lasting
Cons
  • May not be suitable for those with sensitive respiratory systems

Buy this! I swear by it.

I don’t like to sleep under any other blanket in the house but this one! I’m usually always sweaty and hot and toss and turn at night. But since I bought this I sleep better and it regulates my body temp just enough to stay comfortable all night.

Pros
  • The generous size of these blankets means that they are perfect for use as a picnic or beach blanket
Cons
  • May not be as quick drying as other materials

Tons of shedding, but great once you overcome that

I love this blanket, but there is a bit of work that needs to be done after receiving it. Initially it sheds A LOT. For me, washing in cold water and then 6 or 7 cycles on air only in the dryer (SO much lint caught in the lint catcher after each cycle) did the trick. After that it's extremely cozy, warm, and has a good weight. I have a 1940's wool blanket from the US Navy that my grandpa gave me, and this has a similar, comforting weight -- albeit not as heavy -- but it keeps me warm on colder…

Pros
  • Constructed with high-quality materials, these blankets are perfect for withstanding high winds and harsh weather conditions
Cons
  • May cause skin irritation or allergies

Great Blanket for my opinion

I'm a bit of a wool blanket junkie. For the price (just under $50) this ranks better than other brands I've tried. It's warm with no chemical odor. Colors are nice. If you wanna go wool this is the one. Yes it's got some synthetic materials but makes it much more durable.

Pros
  • Very impressed at the quality of these wool blankets for the price.
Cons
  • May have a chemical smell when first opened

It's my fourth one!

Great blanket and good value. I use these a lot when I camp. I have several in my truck. Hang them up for a couple days before using to air out the wool smell. Very warm, medium weight, and very durable. Not super soft, but soft for wool. I layer a cotton blanket on top of them when sleeping. Good size. Also a good picnic blanket.

Pros
  • The blanket is very high quality and provides good warmth. The size is perfect for a twin bed.
Cons
  • Not as soft as other materials

Ok, but manufacturing flaw in blanket raises questions

Blanket seemed well constructed and looked nice until I laid it out to roll up. Then spotted what looked like a piece of tape on the blanket, but when I looked closer it wasn’t tape, it was a wad of wool that was stuck together somehow and imbedded in the blanket. It was almost full thickness and taking it out likely would have left a hole, so I left it, but it makes the blanket less durable and raises questions for me about the manufacturing. Will be returning.

Pros
  • The soft wool material feels great against the skin and provides a comfortable sleeping surface
Cons
  • May not provide adequate warmth in colder climates

Great gift for a cold friend.

Bought this as a last-minute Christmas gift for a friend in the Atlanta area. He’s been struggling with the cold weather, and his Raynaud’s has been terrible. He loves this blanket! Says it’s incredibly soft and heavy — and the red buffalo plaid is bright and cheerful. Very pleased.

Pros
  • Available in a variety of stylish plaid designs, these blankets are both functional and stylish
Cons
  • May not fit in a standard size washing machine

Wonderful! in my review

I have always loved wool blankets and when I went into the Army in the mid 90s, I definitely got my fill. Regardless, this blanket is fantastic! The size is perfect and it is extremely warm. I only bought one to try out the brand but I am definitely going to be ordering more as my children love it as well.

Pros
  • very warm
Cons
  • May not fit in smaller storage areas

No foul odor, extremely soft and warm.

Contrary to negative reviews which are what seem to be from people who have no idea at all about wool or how to properly care for it. This blanket is quite literally amazing.I just received my third one from Arcturus and I love them all.If absolutely necessary to wash it, use a wool detergent and HAND WASH with cold water! Do not machine dry! Lay it flat in direct sun light to dry. If you only have a spot or two that needs cleaning then just clean those spots. These tips will help keep your…

Pros
  • Sleeping Bags & Camp Bedding
Cons
  • May not be as absorbent as other materials

Great except pills profusely

This is a great blanket, especially for the money. My single complaint is the amount it pulls and sheds. I bought an Ektos wool blanket at the same time and it pulls much less, but the Arcturus is heavier.Love the blanket, hopefully the pilling will abate. Certainly when I do wash this it will be at a laundromat because I can’t imagine the shedding in my home machine. But, as a blanket it is warm and comfortable.

Pros
  • The stunning plaid patterns of these blankets never go out of style, making them a timeless and classic addition to any outdoor gear collection
Cons
  • May not be vegan-friendly

OMG right out of the box this is amazing

The blanket is prewashed, with the SLIGHTEST hint of lanolin scent. I excepted this to be military grade itchy, with a commitment to using a sheet with this blanket, but I'm very comfortable using just the blanket. It is very soft. I just got it, will update of shedding later but don't foresee an issue. Ordering another tommorrow.Update: NOT A SINGLE FIBER SHED SO FAR, AMAZING BLANKET

Pros
  • Purchased to take on a camping trip to Northern Michigan. Perfect for those chilly nights.
Cons
  • May be difficult to fold and store

This is a great blanket

This is a good buy. I've had several wool blankets over the years. I really like to stay at about 80% wool for comfort, warmth, dependable insulation (even if I take one camping and it gets wet) and for washability. This is more comfortable than most (though not all, but they always soften after washing and I haven't even washed it yet but still soft enough and comfortable enough that I've slept with it every night since I got it). It is very thick and heavy, especially for this price range…

Pros
  • The vibrant plaid designs of these blankets are sure to turn heads and add a pop of color to any outdoor adventure
Cons
  • May not be as easy to fold as other blankets

What a mess - my new review

First time you wash it it dumps a ton of excess wool all over your washer and dryer. I mean like MOUNDS! Seems to be made well but what mess!

Pros
  • Arcturus Plaid Wool Blankets are perfect for use during fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities
Cons
  • May not provide enough cushion when sitting

Must have blanket on my review.

Bought two of these blankets back in October. Finally opened the gifts and had a chance to really see the quality. These are well made, my oldest son used it and said he has never slept so good because he was so toasty warm all night. Purchased these for early spring or fall around the fire or in the vehicle for an emergency situation. You get what you pay for, these will last a lifetime.

Pros
  • Sports & Outdoors
Cons
  • May require specific storage conditions

Perfect gift! good for me

Definitely a very warm, sturdy blanket. Everything my partner was hoping for. Has been holding up great through some persistent cold weather camping!

Pros
  • 80% WOOL - Wool is a time-tested natural fabric that will keep you warm, even when wet. The remainder of the blanket is composed of 20% hypoallergenic synthetic fibers for durability and washability. Wool is a naturally fire-retardant material. The blanket itself is not treated with any additional flame-retardant chemicals, making it safe for you and your family.
Cons
  • May be too heavy to use as a throw blanket

Still Sheds After 12 Months

Ok For the Price washed 6 times with wool soap still has a little smell when hug outside to dry you can see the sunlight after washed 6 times seems a little thin in areas now

Pros
  • Great blanket, does it’s job by keeping me warm
Cons
  • Not as trendy as other blankets

Nice blanket! in my review

I liked this blanket enough that I ordered another one. It's not a premium blanket, but it's good quality. I used it without washing and there's no smell to it. There is a small amount of pilling, like you'd get on a sweater. I washed it by soaking in a tub of Eucalan and using the spin cycle to spin it dry. Finished with air drying and it looks fine. I can use this and not worry about something damaging it. This is a bit heavier than their other blankets. It's a good value for the money.

Pros
  • Get one... You'll love it
Cons
  • May not be as cozy as advertised

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Thin and not very warm

I wanted to like this blanket, but it just misses the mark. thin and not fluffy. I only used it indoors in my home where it got down to maybe 40-45 degrees. last night was the last straw, I was cold all night long. Maybe if it were fluffier, it would retain more heat.

Pros
  • The thick wool material of these blankets provides unbeatable insulation, keeping you warm and comfortable even during the coldest nights
Cons
  • May not be recommended for those who sweat heavily at night
