Great adaptor. Works perfectly.

I bought two MacBook Airs with small hard drives. So I bought cheap regular SSDs, but I needed these adapters. They worked perfectly. Fits perfectly. Secure the washers with the screw provided. Ideal!

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Not sure

It wasn't that smooth

This is the second one I've bought. The first worked great. This overheated, slowing down the drive's response. I even had a small heatsink, but it just didn't work properly.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Might hurt

I've tried 25 different things. Nothing could make this adapter work. I bought another adapter after 2 days of fiddling and it worked the first time. I've tried everything. Youtube videos, technical support websites, etc. The adapter appears to be defective. I should have known as soon as I installed it and the supplied screw (which holds it) was the wrong length and pitch. I should have aborted the mission immediately and brought her back. complete failure.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Clarity

Finally enough space

Wanted to upgrade my MacBook Pro to a TB drive but it's so proprietary. This adapter is helpful. I didn't want to spend $300-$400 and this adapter allowed me to use a brand name 1TB drive for $99. Works perfectly. Time will tell, but so far it's working great. 👍

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Frequency

Sleep mode in terminal needs to be disabled

Amazing product but when I received this product my MacBook would crash every time I closed the lid or put it to sleep. However, I found a solution, the simple solution is to type "sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0" in the terminal. This prevents your Mac from writing sleep data to disk that it cannot read when it wakes up. It solved all my sleeping problems for me. The product works as advertised.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Upgradable

OS X 10.13 must be used for m.2 detection

This was easy to install on a 2015 MacBook Air. I didn't want to install Apple's original m.2. If you are replacing your hard drive with another hard drive, you can easily install this adapter along with your new m.2 NVMe.

Pros
  • Builds confidence
Cons
  • Some bugs
