Dan's Blocks in the Kitchen and Dining Room

I bought these Arkansas blocks for my wood carving tools. My research has shown that Arkansas stones are the best and Dan's pieces are among the best. They were well packaged and on time. Also included was a nice wooden box to store them in and (to my surprise) a strap at the bottom of the box! I am happy with my purchase.

Get a GREAT benefit

Bought as the first wet stone user and it couldn't be easier. It takes a bit of mineral oil to get that wonderful edge. But even after a few smacks on the stone (10 on each side) all of our knives were real slicers! ! ! Also for ripe tomatoes! ! ! Easy to read instructions. Watching a YouTube video or two also helps. A beautiful case, the perfect length and weight to keep it in place. Highly recommended. Your wife will love you! ! !

I don't need more than this

practice a lot on the hard side before you see the results you want, soft is more forgiving and you can get a very good advantage with it, but if you get a good advantage on the hard Page shave with your knives, people use water or oil on the bow, I prefer mineral oil and clean it up after each use with a Lanksky eraser, nylon brush and soap and water. works perfectly. I am so happy with these stones. No matter what people say, oil isn't dirty if you want it to be. I love this ark so much

I love it. My first whetstone

I bought this along with an Indian stone. I like how it feels. It's reliable and works well. I learned how to use oil stones for sharpening, but I was able to remove hair from very dull knives in about 20 minutes using an Indian stone and sharpening oil first. I work on a printing press and need a knife. whereby the paper is cut without tearing. Once the knife is dull I take a few minutes on the black side and a few passes across the belt and it will be razor sharp again. It was a lot of fun…

Ideal for sharpening most knives

This is not my first Dan whetstone. It replaces the middle stone that I dropped on the concrete floor when remodeling my shop. The combination of medium and small works well together. After using a thin stone, I complete the sharpening with a 3" x 12" piece of leather glued to the board and finished with a polish. This gives me an edge with all of my wood carving, hunting and pocket knives. The woodworking chisels feature a 2" x 8" black ultra-fine Dan's stone. If you take care of these stones…

Arkansas Stone - Kitchen and Dining Room

Dan's Whetstone is what they say. The stone is natural, with no bumps, galls or voids on the surface. This is a quality product that rivals and perhaps even surpasses other products through the use of natural stone. It's novaculite, a concentrated form of quartz crystal. It does not have a numbered grit range; Rather, a medium to soft grit is used because the stone is natural. The 8-inch length and 2-inch width are ideal for sharpening most edges, and the wooden case makes it much easier to…
