This is a great product. No noise

Finally brought my old player back to life which hasn't been used for 10 years. This is a great product. No hum, no hiss, ground works great, gain control is awesome. The volume of this unit matches my other equipment also connected to the same receiver/powered speaker. Very happy with this purchase. I use the power supply as an on/off switch, so it doesn't bother me. Due to the quality of the sound coming from the device, my previous setup sounded like complete nonsense "previously used aโ€ฆ

  • Almost everything is there

Cool little gadget!

This was my first phono preamp. As far as I can tell it works great, my 40 year old TT was worn out, it didn't have a preamp. So I went one step further and bought a new TT with a preamp. Audiophiles will tell you to rip out the old preamp for that particular TT and use a separate preamp. I didn't want to void the warranty so I kept the preamp. The ART STILL preamp works amazing! The soundstage opened up, clarity improved thanks to the same Ortofon pickups. And I couldn't believe the price forโ€ฆ

Can be used as a night light

The sound quality in my setup is good without the use of a rumble low pass filter or selectable cartridge loading. The Gain switch is not in a fixed/fixed position as ideally it should be adjusted for optimal results on every recording. I think it's very good value for money, but there are two issues that bother me. 1) The blue LED on the front is incredibly bright and obnoxious. You need to dull the tone or even switch to a duller color. 2) There is no power switch on the device, so it is onโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Poorly tuned

Sounds great, but you need a power switch!

I installed it between an old Harmon Kardon turntable and a new Yamaha receiver. It sounds way better than any sub-$1,000 receiver with a built-in preamp. These preamps are inserted as afterthoughts or gimmicks. It's far wiser to spend the money on a separate solid preamp like this. It would be hard to do better than without spending a few hundred. Make sure you connect it to the player with a fairly short cable (mine is about 3 feet long). The length of the cable to the receiver does not playโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Lightweight bridge between analogue and digital

Are you looking for a preamp to power a 20th century turntable connect to a 21st century amp/receiver ? This gets the job done with a minimum of fuss. DJPRE offers a high-quality, no-frills construction that's plug-and-play (with a little tweaking). It takes up little space, uses a single level control, and requires no additional skills other than to hook it up. The only annoying thing is that once connected, it's an "always-on" offer. There's no on/off switch and I'm not a fan of powerโ€ฆ

  • Weak Kit

Works great with preamps

After my trusty (40 year old) Denon receiver spat out a hairball, I entered the phono preamp market for the first time. I decided the phono stage is a simple device - how to screw it up? Well some did, great time. Before I bought the ART DJ PREEII, I tried one that was about half the price. I would be kind enough to say that the cheap record made my records sound like crap - it was really awful. In contrast, this block works perfectly. I know there are hi-fi enthusiasts out there who pick theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Earth connection
Cons
  • Reliability

Surprisingly clean sound for the money - competing phono stages I have. can be heard in the $400-700 range. This was to become the telephone preamp of the century. Runs quietly with tons of musical resolution, detail and soundstage. I don't have a problem with hum like another reviewer mentioned. Things improved even further in terms of transparency and soundstage when I switched to 12V DC battery operation with a small rechargeable lead-acid battery by connecting the supplied connector to theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Two RCA outputs
Cons
  • Volume

The Wicked Witch is dead!

I can only say wow! I have a bunch of money (5-10 grand) hooked up to my audio system including a nice Denon S930 HEOS receiver. The weak link was always that player. Even though my really good Ortofon cartridge cost almost as much as a turntable, I could only crank it up to about 40% before the hum/hum in the speaker drivers caused me a lot of pain. This little miracle eliminated all of that completely. I still hear every high and low noise, crackle and crackle, but no annoying backgroundโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Power supply: 12VDC (adapter included)
Cons
  • Vulgarity
