Ultra fine metal glue bottle tips need stainless pins! (unless it comes with its own pin). Ordinary sewing needles will rust at the tip and dirty the glue, not pretty! It's hard to find pins that don't rust. I even "tested" with all the sewing/quilting needles I have in soaked paper towel for a few days and only applied (1) a small amount of rust. I hate buying these but in the end they are worth it. Needles don't last long IF the glue at the tip dries a little (the needle will bend when resisting the glue drying a little at the tip, which can happen easily and quicker than you think), then if you use a regular sewing pin to replace them, the pin rusts and then the rust gets into the glue, then you have a rust colored glue on your paper which is really not good if a bit of it shows through on the front of your project.
