Bought for my wife for Valentine's Day. Here, 2 weeks later, she receives a notice that she can no longer use the software without paying $10 per month. She speaks to Cricket and they confirm it. So this machine is useless to us now.

The machine does not come with software and neither can you.

The machine does not come with any software and you cannot download any software onto your machine. You can only use their online software which is very restrictive. You may not use third party software. Therefore, you must be connected, i.e. within Wi-Fi range, to perform design work. If I'm in a coffee shop without access, traveling, etc., I can't do any prep work. Why don't they mention that in the product description? Nobody does that with their cars anymore. I don't see why Cricut should.

Terrible scrapbooking and stamping software

What good are two tool bits if I can't cut and trim on the same mat. Drawing constructions takes forever, you can't set any drawing shortcuts at all. For example, it is not possible to cut a square with a grid attached inside in one pass. It took forever to draw four parallel lines - I had to manually enter the length and coordinates to make it work. It also looks like it's not possible to use other software for this. Any suggestions to improve performance would be helpful. Also, the mat broke…

Lots of fun, but can be frustrating.

Since Christmas I've been trying different materials from the store with my new Cricut Explore Air 2 and really want to find the right technique and materials for different applications. My only complaint is that you have to rely on their design website, Cricut Design Space, for it to work properly when cutting. This is not a given as I have experienced many crashes especially on weekends when I assume the site is getting more traffic. That can be annoying! I wish there was a program I could…

Hidden features of Cricut

I bought the Cricut Explorer 2 Air. First I called the company to ask questions before buying a car. I did a lot of research online and also watched videos etc. I then felt good about spending $300 on all of this including vinyls, carpet cutting, clippers, etc. when I got the machine in the mail and finally installed it. First you need to create a Cricut online account, enter your serial number and go to designspace.com. The problem I have is that you can't download the program on your desktop…

Pros
  • die cutters
Cons
  • Available in black only

The Cricut Explorer Air 2 is a great value. The Air 2's extra speed over the original Explorer doesn't seem to affect cut quality. The biggest downside to the machine that I've encountered is the software. If you're new to Cricut, or to crafting in general, Cricut seems like a dream come true. As soon as you master the operation of the machine, the software becomes an obstacle for you. Design space is a joke. Because they didn't want to invest in the software and the web management page they…
