I bought this to accommodate large Bernina coils. Size 500/700 Bernina spools will not fit in a regular size spool box. The sections in this one are a bit too wide and I didn't want the coils to move as the silver dots could rub off (and then the coil sensor wouldn't work). So I cut several strips of 1/4" thick foam board and attached them to each section. Now it fits my coils very well and they don't rattle. The box contains 42 coils, 7 in each section. This box is mainly designed for class M coils. What it is, M-type bobbins are commonly used on medium to large commercial machines for heavy fabrics, canvas, upholstery, and leather. This is much more than a standard home machine coil. As a result, my coils will rumble like crazy in the box. The box itself seems pretty sturdy, so I plan to use it to store other craft or sewing supplies. Show me the dimensions of the box, I could tell it's too big for my coils.
