Usually these brush sets are not very good but the quality of these brushes is high, the case that comes with it is good and they were individually wrapped. A good set of brushes of different sizes in a plastic case. Good for a beginner. The brushes are good but not the best. I've used them for oil painting and so far they've held up, although the hog bristles in the tips don't seem as secure as better quality brands like Robert Simmons. The wooden grips appear to be hand painted and have a stained finish. Overall, this is a good brush set for beginners on a budget.

But I hope they were better than they are. I think they meet my expectations for natural brushes in this price range. They are just as good if not better than the natural brushes that you can buy at craft stores and spend the same amount for 1 brush and this entire set. The brushes are individually packed in a sturdy plastic box. The kit includes a handy card with instructions on how to prepare the brushes before use and how to care for them after use. In preparing the brushes, I was very pleased to find that the bristles had not been severely lost, just a few short bristles as indicated on the card. For now all I can suggest is adding at least a small angled brush, a finer 1 or 0 tip (I think it's called a rigger but with short bristles) and maybe even a mop.

First of all: These are not professional brushes. They shed bristles - a lot on first use and sometimes on later use. The selection is pretty reasonable - a couple of flat brushes, a couple of round brushes, and two fan brushes in addition to a background/wash brush - and the stiffness is about what you can and should expect from hog bristle, but these brushes are cheaply made and they aren't keep.
