One of the 4 panels was coated with some kind of varnish or something that gave it a "gloss" that the others didn't have. Because of this, the finished product absorbed ink differently than other panels, which was critical for my project as I am using an image on 4 panels. Many other reviewers have noted how different even five piece sets can be and they were right. After sanding them all, some soaked up the paint like a sponge, others I had to do multiple passes to get the same result. I wouldn't recommend painting directly onto surfaces with this if you plan on making a set. Not suitable for this. I'm deducting a star for that alone.
