This works great to connect my Windows 7 laptop to Cisco.

This works great for connecting my windows 7 laptop to the console port of a cisco router. He downloaded and installed the drivers. I noticed that installing the drivers set my device to Com 6. Then I told putty to use that port. After that I was able to connect to Putty with no problems. So there are no problems with the combat, it just works. Edit: I just bought another one as I left my old one at work. It is great. They make it easy to connect Putty to a Cisco console and other devices that…

It should come with every Cisco router instead of the standard serial cable!

, I work for Cisco and with every Cisco product we buy internally we receive one of the standard serial to RJ45 cables. We have mountains of them and they are almost useless as almost no laptop or other computer has a serial number anymore. Cisco should ship that with their routers/switches. In fact, nobody wants (or has) to use real serial ports anymore. It took me a bit of time to find the right drivers, but once I installed them it worked like a charm. I had an XP laptop about 10 years old…

It just works - USB cable

The price was great. Worked great, much better than standard USB serial dongles. I had one of these at work and it just dropped the serial connection for no reason and ended up having to buy a full PCIe serial expansion card for my workstation. It's a shame I didn't discover this product sooner. Theoretically, this cable can be extended with a straight RJ45 plug to plug; but i haven't tried it yet.
