Good laptop at a good price

Item 1 below focuses on Windows 10's S mode. I didn't plan to write that much about S mode, but I did, and that's why you should think about it. The rest of the comments relate to the Asus laptop itself. 1.) I think Windows 10 S mode is excellent. The more I use it, the more I like it. {I've been using S mode on other devices for about 8 months.) You can exit S mode easily, but what I'm saying is that it's a really underrated OS. It practically blocks malware, period. You can't tell if theโ€ฆ

Beware of the S mode on this car.

I regret buying this product. Microsoft keeps you trapped in its so-called S mode, from which there seems to be no escape. Presumably an advantage since, like Apple, you cannot download any programs other than their own or approved ones. For "security reasons" you cannot download Chrome or other software with this S mode. I don't generally like Microsoft Edge as a browser, although others might like it; and I've invested in a lot of great non-Microsoft software that I can't use now! You canโ€ฆ

Excellent hardware for the price. Good for Linux, with some hurdles.

Let's start with the hardware itself. I was worried the screen would be as awful as some of these imply ratings. In my opinion, the screen is just great. It's probably not good in very bright sunlight or for video or photo editing. Otherwise, if you just want to work in the office or surf the web, that's good enough, and that's no reason to ditch this laptop. If you are already used to higher quality displays or have high demands on displays, stop being cheap and try to spend a little moreโ€ฆ

This is my second VivoBook. My first one was ruined because my cat spilled coffee on it and there were no guarantees at the time. I substituted this as a last resort - how to write a thesis, ran to Walmart and bought a cheap HP to do said paperwork. HP was terrible. I had to send it in for repair twice during the two year warranty because the top of the laptop was separating from the bottom, and just after the warranty expired the same thing happened a third time. I decided to return to ASUS as

Love this purchase. Core i3 1005G1, 128GB NVME SSD and 8GB RAM. It feels very fast and responsive. Fingerprint login is very fast, which is one of the reasons I chose it over the cheaper Acer. I bought it for my wife as she only wants the most basic specs, but I didn't want to settle for anything less than a 10th gen Intl Core or AMD Ryzen 4000 series. I really wouldn't change the price , except that it had to have 250 to 500 GB of storage space. The OEM only pays $20 for a Hynix SSD, theyโ€ฆ
