Replaced by another manufacturer and thing works great.

Wow, what a nice difference from another brand. I've been using the same brand for many years. However, on two motherboards for 8-core processors they bought, the old brand just wasn't stable. Oh sure, if I kept my mouth shut I could boot Debian Linux and it would run for literally months without a reboot. The problem was in the initial setup. In both cases, the boards rebooted spontaneously during installation. Eventually I got fed up and replaced both motherboards with these. Now let's talk…

ASUS is becoming a brand I can trust.

I bought this motherboard as part of a small chain store to build a new rig. The price is great and the motherboard itself lives up to it. On the one hand, it looks great. I know there's a trend towards red in computers, but you can't beat this classy blue. It's also SLI-ready (and comes with the hardware required for SLI of the two cards together) and packed with features that may or may not be standard these days. One of the most impressive things for me is the USB mouse boot priority during…

Works as it should: Computer components

Everything works as expected. The CPU VRM gets a bit warm, but that's quite common with AMD boards. It's cooler than my previous AMD 970 motherboard which throttled the CPU when pushed. an inch larger than the motherboard box. And ZERO padding, bubble wrap and air cushions. That was a problem because when the person delivered it to me, he was moving a lot in the box causing him to drop it. I did almost exactly the same thing, so I don't feel angry with the courier. This was mainly due to the…

great board - Internal components

Uses this motherboard with the addition of ASUS Black 8 cores 4.2 gigabytes. I love this board. I've got about $500 in my box with a 280GB SSD and 16GB or RAM, and it smokes some of my $2000 box friends. The features included in this board make it a great option. Bios recovery via USB is just awesome and anyone who has bricked their machine before will appreciate this feature. The bundled ASUS system tools work well and offer access that novices would never have had before. Overclocking with…

Reliable, easy to use but old

This is a solid board with excellent documentation. I got it for an overhaul and previously used an M5A99FX Pro R2.0 (cousin, almost identical) in a build about 5 years ago and it still works. Also, this board is pretty old and backwards compatible with the 6-core Phenom II I have laying around, and also works with FX chips. This board features an ASUS Q connector that allows you to connect all front LEDs and the power button. Connected to a connector on the board, great convenience. My only…

Reliable motherboard and good price

Bought an ASUS M5A99X EVO motherboard to replace a Gigabyte motherboard that died just a year after installing it. So far everything is fine with the ASUS motherboard. It was a very easy setup and I had all the necessary connections. I really liked the adapter that comes with the kit to connect wires to the buttons and LEDs on the front panel - it makes the connection very easy. All of my components connected quickly and easily, and it wasn't too much hassle, which can be an issue if you have…

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Everything is fine

The main functions of the board work fine, but I have a problem with the integrated audio on the board, there is no sound coming out of my speaker. Only one who has this problem, just google "M5A99X no sound", you will see what I experienced. There were many home-made solutions provided by many users, including reinstalling audio driver, reinstalling PCI VGA card, etc., but this should not depend on the user's efforts to get the card's basic functions working. The board overclocked well; my…

Works great once I start using it.

This is my first ASUS motherboard and from what I've read it's either a great motherboard or a terrible motherboard if you buy an ASUS. I've had good luck with my builds when it comes to motherboards. It's better than my Asrock motherboard that was in my last build. The only issue I had was that the BIOS had some release issues. I had to download them all to another computer instead of transferring them to a USB stick and installing them that way because I was able to surf the web without any…
