Description of πŸ”Š Teensy 4.0 Audio Adapter Board

This audio adapter lets you easily add high quality 16 bit, 44.1 kHz sample rate (CD quality) audio to your projects with a Teensy 4.0. The audio chip connects to Teensy using 7 signals. The I2C pins SDA and SCL are used to control the chip and adjust parameters. Audio data uses I2S signals, TX (to headphones and/or line out) and RX (from line in or mic), and 3 clocks, LRCLK (44.1 kHz), BCLK (1.41 MHz) and MCLK (11.29 MHz). All 3 clocks are created by the Teensy. The SGTL5000 chip operates in "slave mode", where all its clock pins are inputs. This Version Rev. D is for Teensy 4.0 only

Works great in single board computers

I followed the manual on the manufacturer's website and made all the examples. They all worked, but when I tried the ones with the LED flashing on, they crashed. by commenting out that part of the code, they worked great. I am currently developing my own code to create a noise reduction filter (DSP filter) for my amateur radio. The combined cost of the processor board and this board is much less than the cost of either of the pre-built DSL filters, and I can optimize my own code.

Powerful Libraries, Great Sound

Pjrc has written library support making the SGTL5000 chip easy to access for any maker or audio tinkerer. Make sure you isolate transformers for ground loops, which are the most likely source of noise. With proper isolation, this panel contains almost no noise. The effects, graphic EQ, delay, surround sound, etc. are easy to program and well documented on PJRC's easy-to-use GUI website. These boards (and the 3x Compat boards) are my favorite boards for audio processing and spectrum analysis…
