Excellent sound processor and equalizer

Not wanting to replace a 2017 Highlanders head unit, I used a DQ-61 to sum the channels and then sent that signal to my amp. This is one of the best signal processors I've come across, and even my installer, Kimballs Mobile Electronics in Savannah, Georgia, agreed that this thing does a fantastic job. With a summed signal, you lose separate EQ controls for the front and rear speakers. But that's not really a problem as I still prefer setting them up the same way.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • So-so

Sound Control = AMAZING!

This DQ-61 is great, love its features and fantastic sound! Anyone thinking of getting one just do it, you won't be disappointed. Pay attention to the jumpers inside if it doesn't work or seems wrong. I almost started taking it out of the car thinking there was something wrong until I checked the jumpers then the subwoofer started working because all the bass was going to the door speakers not the sub. I also believe it's a number because there's a slight lag in the EQ settings, but the curve…

Makes the stock main unit very flexible

If you are an audio lover and understand how to connect this type of equipment, you will love it. If you have a stock head unit you know you have limited audio output options such as EQ, subwoofer control, this DQ-61 gives you more flexibility in your system and actually turns your head unit into a quality aftermarket system. You must have aftermarket amps to use this and I would suggest swapping out your factory speakers to get full sound quality. I will say that if you know someone with an…

The seller will not communicate. The processor is defective.

I ordered and received the processor with no problems. Looks like new, in original packaging, with all accompanying documents, cables and carrying handle. Had it been installed by a professional car audio manufacturer as part of a major system upgrade, I might still be able to keep the factory head unit and all the benefits that came with it. The device is defective and this has been proven by professional installers. I wrote to the seller on December 26th and he does not reply. I need to know…

Buy a more modern design DSP instead

I installed this unit on a 2016 F150 as it allowed me to keep the Ford radio/navigation system and add the appropriate amplifier and speakers. It handles these tasks well and is highly customizable. I had an issue with the device that was never resolved. There's a delay setting that lets you adjust the timing of the front and rear speakers, and I was able to adjust it where it worked well, and then over the course of a week or so it wobbled until it was annoying - like an echo. So I…

The sound quality is top notch! Great Bass Control LOC EQUALIZER W

This is a high end unit as I've learned over the years pretty much anything an audio control can do! Setting up your system will take a day or two unless you're an audio hardware guru, which I'm not. However, I am learning and making projects with my own hands. This little cutout really brought my soundstage to head-level with left-to-right temperature alignment and front and rear subwoofer alignment. The party settings are a bit finicky, but that means they actually do something! I've had it…

Great product but poor SUPREME seller

First the SUPREME seller who was selling my product (made/supplied by Revain) gave me a used item in a battered box with all used parts (but at least all parts are included). They didn't even bother to repackage it or give it a new look even though the ad said it was new. Second and most important, a 1 year warranty. However, if you sell and install it through an Audio Control dealer, the warranty extends to FIVE years. The discount isn't big enough, especially if you get a used one like me, so

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Some minor issues

I had a lot of aftermarket head units before Pioneer really started changing the game. I've had so many different speakers now I prefer Focus Linen or k2 Two Way with external Focal crossovers that never let me down, high bass through mids and highs combined with JL W6v3 now always powered by JL Amps Slash v3 will. I have used this factory integration to keep my 2014 factory 4Runner looking and functional which I am very happy with. I CAN that this equalizer/factory integration delivered the…

Good product if you don't need to sum signals.

I personally like Audio Control as a company and most of their products, but when it came to the DQ61 I was disappointed. The biggest downside I encountered was how the EQ and summing functions are handled. First, the equalizer itself worked fine until you ran and summed the signals. For those not sure what I'm talking about there are often split signals from factory stereos where channels come out to say your door speakers may only have part of the frequencies of the music (e.g. low and mid)…
