Nice thread but not for me

I've wanted this thread for a long time. Everyone loves it and I bought it for a special occasion. The thread is wonderful and if this was the first thread I've ever used I would probably love it as much as everyone else. However, I'm just not crazy about it. It has a shine that I don't like and is really thin. This is fine for most people, but I have used Gutermann 100% cotton in the past and I am confident of it. Auriful worked great, arrived quickly and was packaged in plastic when…

Pros
  • Availability
Cons
  • Hard to say

I may have received a bad spool, junk or a counterfeit product, but this thread has broken too many times on my projects and hasn't even passed my pull test. I am extremely unimpressed. When I'm done sewing, I give the starting and ending threads a firm tug to tighten the first and last stitches, including when bar-tacking. This thread just got broken! I think that saved me from cutting them off. To make sure it wasn't my machine or the needle, I removed the bobbin from my machine, pulled the…

I love it. Because it's 100% cotton

This was the FIRST time I used this 100% cotton thread on my embroidery machine. I love it. Because it's 100% cotton, I can use it to embroider designs on hot pads, microwave potato bags, etc. What I also like is that the label on the bottom of the spool has a round perforated area for the spool to sit on the line holder. I've encountered poking or cutting a hole in the bottom of other brands, a sticky pain because bits of paper can stick to my scissors or the metal I'm using. Not with this…

Finally cotton yarn!

This is a great find! I've been looking for cotton thread for a while and while I usually find cotton coated in poly or a blend of it, it's been a while since I've been able to find pure cotton thread locally. Its weight is perfect and at 1300m I should be able to complete a large project or two before having to change the spool. It works great on both of my machines (Singer & a Brother) and the bobbins wind well too. Not only does it sew up well, but afterwards it seems like it was meant to be

Pros
  • 100% Long Staple Mercerized Egyptian Cotton
Cons
  • Unbelievable Price

This is the first time buying this thread. So far I have used it for sewing and all my old sewing machines love this thread. My friend brought some buckles a while back and we tried it on a long arm and it works great there too. I have loved sewing all my life and have chosen Coats and Clarks threads. I love their cotton thread with polypropylene wrapping. And suddenly there were only yarns made of 100% polyester in the local shops. Okay, so he learned to love too. I could buy 500 yard rolls…
