What I need from the shredder

The shredder works quite simply, but I'm fine with it. The most important feature I needed was a shredder that would fit in the basket my previous shredder came with. I love this style as the shredder doesn't completely cover the bin so I can use it as a regular bin AND a shredder in my small office. This grinder is perfect! At first I bought a stronger one but it was too big for my basket and I returned it. It looks like it will work great for my light chopper needs.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Was damaged

Barely works! in Other office equipment

Pro: Fits well on the basket. Cons: There is only about 1/4 inch where the paper needs to hit for the shredding to work. So if a sheet of paper is fed in at an angle, only the part that hits that spot will go through. The rest of the paper hangs. If you get a crease on the paper, the machine will stop it. I didn't know it was from Walmart. I wouldn't have bought it if I had known that. I know Walmart products are made cheaper to get lower prices (personal professional experience with this). If…

Poor design poor build

I really need a trash can shredder that eliminates the mess of trying to empty it with a trash can. So I bought this. It's almost impossible. Gets stuck all the time. There is a small 2" wide portion of the shredder that you must feed the paper through that will cause the paper to move sideways causing it to clog. He doesn't eat right away. Simple shredding takes 3-4 times longer than it should because I have to reach down from the bottom to push the paper through. I don't overfeed either. Bad…

Worked well for the shredders for a month

My old shredder lasted 6 years and I didn't even know it needed oiling! I bought the Aurora shredder because I already had a basket from my old shredder. This shredder grinds fairly wide strips and fills the basket quickly. When it started getting stuck I emptied the trash can. It didn't work, so I cleaned everything I could out of the shredder. This worked for one sheet and then glued again. I used the on and off jam removal method. Did not help. I oiled a piece of paper and tried to rub it…

I also like that it's always on

Yes! It's not a cross shredder, but I knew it! I already had one of these (or a similar one), but Walmart no longer sells a "binless" shredder that everyone really needs. I can attach motorized blades to ANY suitable container! Why pay for the extra EXTRA mess? I have lots of old shredder bins, or even a small recycling bin will do. I also love that it's always on and ready for my grind without having to use extra power to light a "ready lightbulb"! Perhaps if the buyer has young children, they

  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Not worth the price or hassle.

Many years ago I had a similar shredder that I really liked and really wanted to like. I wanted a chopper that would fit a 13 gallon can so I wouldn't have to empty it. This chopper started well but went downhill quickly. Even if I didn't destroy more than 6 pages at a time, it overheated without warning before I could fill half a 13-gallon garbage bag. There is no overheat warning indicator. I figured I could live with that and just started making small batches. But then he started pulling the

Works great :) suitable for other office equipment

Works great. My other basketless shredder lasted quite a while and the opening was larger so it took a few tries to get used to it and it's difficult to make flimsy receipts unless you put them in with a regular sheet of paper there. I've had a lot of shredding and I've done it all. Make sure they don't have anything sticky like the glue on some credit card applications that come in the mail. It got stuck once but was able to pull it out. There is also a reverse mode. Make sure the shredded…
