🔒 Hood Latch Lock + Release Pull Rod Handle for Volkswagen Golf Jetta 2000-2006 - AUTOPA 1J0823509C & 1JD823593B Review

My hood would not latch. Then I replaced the latch with this latch. Now it bangs. It would be better if the kit included a sensor clip for closing the hood, which is almost impossible not to break when replacing.

The hood release handle works great but the springs on the latch are very stiff. I'm not sure if anyone has an easy way to crack it, but I ended up just keeping my old latch, even though it doesn't always close the hood.

The actual main latch part was excellent and relatively easy to install. The latch that came with the kit didn't fit the latch so we had to use the original tongue instead of the one that came with the kit. Save money and just buy a sunroof!

The hood latch works and the handle fits me like a glove. It's easier if you leave the latch bolts loose and then lower the hood to align them. Once it's level, mark the latch, lift it up a bit and tighten. The hood clicks into place and locks. Works perfectly.

This worked well to replace a broken hood latch on our 2001 Jetta. I removed one star because the painted arrow on the secondary hood latch release lever was misaligned and misaligned/sloppy. Instead I reused our original part for this plastic part and will keep that in this kit as a spare.

Installation was easy if you watch a few videos about it. The hood release cable is easily removed on the right side if you unscrew the whole part first. On the left is a cable with a clamp that needs to be removed towards the ground. A clip holds a small sensor in the mechanism. Then there was a tiny zip tie holding the wire from the sensor to the bottom of the mechanism. The zipper was about half an inch from where the sensor meets the front of the mechanism.
